Helping the Ministry of Health to Realign Their Budgets to Emphasize Primary Health Care in Bolivia

Estimation Year

1996, 1997, 1998, 2000

Actual Policy Use

NHA findings showed that MoH was spending a lot on hospitals, approximately 43% of its budget. Based on this observation, the MOH established as an objective to increase spending on primary care while avoiding a reduction, in absolute terms, in hospital spending (the share of hospital spending in the MOH’s budget is now 35%).
