Health Systems 20/20’s local office in Cairo manages a two-and-a-half year $10 million project focusing on:
- Workforce Planning: Establish a sustainable workforce planning program for the Ministry of Health (MOH)
- National Health Accounts: Produce NHA estimates for 2007/8 and 2008/9, and institutionalize NHA as a routine exercise to monitor health system performance
- Building the Health Insurance Organization (HIO) Payer Functions Capacity: Build HIO capacity as a payer to expand health insurance coverage
- Assessing the Preventive Health Sector: Evaluate the performance of three main MOH preventive health programs and make recommendations for long-term sustainability

Egypt Moves Towards Evidence-based Cost Analysis for Hospitals

Egypt’s National Health Insurance Organization Staff Receive Financial and Case Management Training
Jul 19 2011This spring, over 100 staff from Egypt’s Health Insurance Organization (HIO) received training in the areas of utilization and case management and financial management. Staff will apply their newly acquired skills to help the HIO become an effective health care services payer and provider. The HIO is responsible for designing, pricing, negotiating, contracting, and paying for services covered under Egypt’s social health insurance scheme to ensure high-quality health care services for all Egyptians. Workforce Planning Tool in Use by MOH
