Health Systems 20/20 is providing assistance to the Ministry of Health (MOH) as it implements National Health Accounts and several subaccounts for fiscal year 2006, focusing assistance on reproductive health subaccounts and the institutionalization of NHA in the country. Health Systems 20/20 is also collaborating with the regional organization East, Central, and Southern African Health Community (ECSA), to build the capacity of the Tanzanian MOH to routinely conduct NHA.

Given the impressive work of the Tanzanian Essential Health Interventions Project (TEHIP) and its partners on harmonizing district budgetary reporting and district health accounts, Health Systems 20/20 is exploring options for linking NHA with this locally-designed district tool to further integrate NHA into annual planning exercises. Read the Health Systems 20/20 Tanzania Country Brief for more information on USAID best buys to institutionalize NHA in the country.
